A safe, high-quality education with a clear path forward

Curriculum

World-class school curriculum

New Zealand schools follow an internationally respected curriculum (including NCEA), recognised by universities worldwide and a strong foundation for future study.

Safety

A safe, well-regulated environment

Consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world, with strict government standards for the care of international school students.

Class Size

Small class sizes

Smaller classes than many home-country alternatives, allowing more individual attention for every child.

Language

Full immersion in English

Children study entirely in English from day one, with additional language support available at most schools for a smooth transition.

Pathways

A pathway to NZ tertiary study

Completing secondary school in New Zealand smooths the path into New Zealand universities and polytechnics later on.

Lifestyle

A genuine home away from home

Quality homestay and boarding options, small class sizes, and a welcoming, multicultural school community.

Pastoral care in New Zealand is the law, not a courtesy

Every school that enrols international students under 18 is legally bound by the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, under the Education and Training Act 2020, overseen by NZQA. This isn't optional best practice — it's a statutory requirement every approved school must meet.

Approved Signatory Schools cannot legally enrol international students unless they are an approved signatory to the Code, registered with NZQA.
Guardianship by Law Students under 10 must live with a parent or legal guardian; students aged 10-17 must have an approved, vetted caregiver if a parent isn't resident in New Zealand.
Police-Vetted Homestays Every adult in a homestay household must pass a New Zealand Police check before a child can be placed there.
A Formal Right to Complain Families have access to a statutory complaints process independent of the school itself — real accountability, not just a policy document.

Grow Consultancy Limited only places students with schools that meet every one of these legal obligations — we check this before we recommend anywhere.
